The Ides of March and Booking Your Travel

Winter Trainride to Seward March is the time of year when any kind of weather might arrive on Anchorage’s doorstep. While the Lower 48 has endured massive snowfall, Anchorage has been the place to visit for temperate days and sunny evenings, great for long walks and moose sightings. When the snow has been in Alaska, taking the winter train ride to Seward, as pictured, has been a top choice of visitors.

Until the summer travel season goes into high gear, it is relatively easy to rent a car, book a B&B, get a dinner reservation, and even get tickets to the Performing Arts Center. But come late May, and places will be crowded!

So beware the Ides of March. Now is the time to get your plans made and reservations set! We have 30 B&Bs that have been inspected and are approved, of which Jarvi Homestay is one.

Never visited a B&B? If you want a private place with a sense of home, try a stay. Your hosts will give you the resident’s scoop on where to go and what to do, and will otherwise be out of your way. But when you want a recommendation, please ask.

We anticipate a great season, and hope you will stay with us!
